Matcha Cream Hot Chocolate Recipe (With Real Chocolate)
Matcha cream hot chocolate is one of my favourite ways to enjoy hot chocolate, and it's super simple to make too.
The smooth bitterness of matcha goes so well with the cool cream and rich chocolate. For my hot chocolate with matcha cream, I prefer to use dark chocolate. But you can use any chocolate you like depending on your tastes – milk, white, ruby and blonde all work with this recipe as a direct substitute for the dark chocolate.
This matcha cream hot chocolate recipe is for one, but feel free to scale up if you're making it for two or more.
Ready? Let's go.
Ingredients for Sweet Matcha Cream:
150ml whipping cream
3 tsp matcha (1 level tbsp)
2 tsp caster sugar
Ingredients for Hot Chocolate:
250ml hot milk
40g chopped dark chocolate (or milk if you prefer sweeter)
Method:
1. Sift the matcha into the whipping cream and add the sugar, and whisk until thickened and fluffy. Set aside.
2. Whisk the milk and chocolate together in your serving mug until well combined. Spoon or pipe the matcha cream on top.
3. Serve.
Enjoy, and have fun.
